Having a studio with many lighting option is great. Some images can only be created with various lights in different positions. Do great images need to have 8 lights and a backdrop? No.
One evening we finished a shoot and went to Desiree's folks to pick up the boys and I wanted to take a few pictures to test one of my cameras ( I was having some issues earlier that day).
I had only a lamp with a shade for a light, thats all one really needs. I tipped the shade to let more light fall across Kimball's face. Metered between the shadow and highlight and clicked the shutter. pretty simple, pretty straight forward.
Great images can really be created almost anywhere, with the right equipment, the right subject and the right state of mind... anything is possible.
Image info: ISO 1600, F1.8, 1/1000, 50mm, available light; lamp/75 watt bulb
