a southern affair (southern NM that is)

I remember living in Texas and "Up North" was the pan handle and "Down South" was anything lower than San Antonio. It's similar here in NM and for this session we went as bout as far as we could get without being in Texas. We met David and Rebecca in Old Mesilla on the south side of las Cruces and from there went deep into the Pecan orchards of Southern NM. It was hot, humid, and generally BEAUTIFUL!
David and Rebecca are super cute and we had a ton of fun with them. We even hauled a bike from the studio down there for this shoot.
A quick note about the images; I do a wide variety of editing to my images. From just a quick contrast to a heavy tone and texture.
I read a blog about how all of this post work is just a ridiculous fad and how we should just stick to the basics. Well, if I were "just a photographer" I might consider that. But the fact is I never have been a photographer. I studied art and art history. I stuck with photography as a medium for my art.
If someone would have told Picasso, or Dali just to stick to the basics of painting, we would not have some great inspiring work that we do. Yes styles are more popular at certain times and techniques change. But the fact is this is my work and Desiree's work if we see something in an image that we like, or see an image a certain way we express that. so, yes our images vary, so does life! So if you think that photos should look a certain way, go buy a camera!
