The Gena bridge and the Curtiss bridge

Sometimes things just work out and sometimes they don't.
So what did work out? Well it started last summer as we were meeting with Gena talking about her wedding. Her theme was heavily Paris based and she has wanted to go to Paris for the longest time. I told her that I was going to Germany to shoot a reception and some sessions there and it was only a few hour train ride away, and would love to meet them in Paris to do an after-session for them, if they wanted to honeymoon there.
The thought was briefly entertained and that is about as far as it went… Until, we were in the beautiful Sandia Mountains shooting their connection session, I casually, in conversation, brought up the fact that I would only be a few hours away from Paris and would love to come photograph them there. Almost without hesitation Curtiss said ok they’d do it. Gena turned in a combination of shock and disbelief, looked at Curtiss and he assured her he was not kidding.
Well, then the tears started to flow. Gena cried knowing that her dream of going to Paris was going to be realized. Desiree cried because she was so happy for Gena. My allergies acted up a little because we were standing in the weeds, you know…
So that is what worked out.
Fast forward to Halloween, we found ourselves trying to flag down a taxi in front of the Eiffel Tower to take 5 of us over to a bridge, which bridge? Well we decided we were going to Pont Neuf, even though we wanted to go to Pont Alexander.
So the cabbie would not let us all get in his car and Curtiss had to get out and try to find another cab. It was rush hour just before the sun was going down and we were spending way too much time in the car, passing the bridge that we wanted and going to the bridge that we told Curtiss we would meet him on.
Well we got there just as the sun was going down and we started to photograph Gena. Yes, it was the wrong bridge. No, the Eiffel Tower and other buildings were not in the back ground but it was still beautiful (it is Paris after all). And the sunset was amazing. Well as the sunset passed still no Curtiss. Gena and I decided to chase through the Paris Metro back to the other bridge.
We got there to find it way crowded and with Curtis nowhere in sight! We caught a bus back and found Curtiss with Desiree and Jenny and had been since shortly after we left them. He had gone to the right bridge, at least the one we meant, and we went to the one we agreed to…. So, that didn’t work out so well. so If you are ever in Paris, Pont Neuf is the Gena bridge and Pont Alexander is the Curtiss bridge!
We ended up walking almost all the way back to the Curtiss bridge to do some pictures on a crazy cool fountain with the Eiffel Tower in the background and finally ended the night over a great French meal at a cute little street side restaurant.
The very next morning we were up at sunrise back to the Curtiss bridge for some more pictures. We had a brilliant time and seeing Gena and Curtiss together uninhibited was so beautiful, there was no stress there were no phone calls and work related texts, just two people having recently joined their lives together hugging, kissing, laughing, and walking the streets of Paris!
