Apples & Asparagus & Red Chile

Ana mentioned, in our first meeting, that she and Rob originally wanted to have their wedding on her grandmothers farm in Chamita. Logistically, however, it would just not work trying to get all of her guests there, parked and then out a couple of acres to the ceremony site near the apple orchard. So instead of having the wedding there we used Grandma's  land to photograph their connection session. We met Ana and Rob on the north end of Española. From there we followed them, literally, over the river and through the woods to grandmothers house! We hung a left at the pillar of smoke rising from the huge pile of grass and branches and stuff that the neighbor was burning. Once we parked at the house we trudged though an alfalfa field that was being irrigated. At the end of the alfalfa field was the old apple orchard. Beyond that, fields of grasses and wild asparagus lead all the way down to the Rio Chama.
Our shoot was awesome, Ana and Rob just came ready for whatever we wanted to do so all we id was mess around and had fun. We laughed and joked, they kissed, we shot. We had a great time.
When we were finished I was looking forward to heading back up to Toas to grab some lunch at the Hunan restaurant. For those who don't know or haven't read my blog post or Facebook update before, I really like the Hunan. It has the freshest sesame balls and the wonton soup is crazy good. Its a huge bowl full of meat and veggies and wontons MMMMM, Anyway, I also digress, so back to the shoot. We were getting ready to leave when we were offered to come in, spend some time with the family and have some pasole and red chili. Generally I am not a red chili fan. I love the flavor of green chili and can eat it with almost anything. I am also not the most social person, Desiree on the other hand thrives in a social environment and was excited to go meet everyone, and I thought the prospect of a home cooked new Mexican lunch. Well about an hour, 2 Frito pies covered in an amazing red chili and some great conversation later, we were ready to head out to get ready for our next shoot. All in all it was a great way to spend a Saturday morning. Ana and rob were married in Santa Fe at the La Fonda and it was a beautiful wedding. I will blog their images as soon and I can! until then, enjoy Ana and Rob's connection session!
