The view from above

So, Sandia Crest can still be a little chilly in April! At least once the sun sets...
Our intent was to meet Lauren and Raul at the crest and then hike to the rock house to shoot the session. Our plans quickly changed when we saw the 5 foot deep piles of snow that covered the trail its entire length... so we hiked as far as possible and the views were amazing.
We had a lot of fun in-spite of some other very loud hikers messin' with our mojo!
And I came away with an odd craving for PEZ...

17 years, What?

If you have read our blog and if you are fans of our facebook page (if not, why not?) you know how much we love our connection sessions.
This session was no different.

Although I have known Wendy and Phil for many, many years, I didn't really know them!
For the couple of hours we spent together in the trees by the river I was able to get to know them and see a side of Phil that I hadn't before. And we got to hear their love story...

It all started with Phil's instant infatuation for Wendy's legs (in volleyball shorts no less..wink, wink). He wasted no time asking her to the Slaughter concert! and for those of you that read this and don't know who slaughter is.... you just wait till your our age and you will know how I feel.
Even though Phil's music tastes have only slightly changed and Wendy has greatly matured in her musical tastes, they are still together and more in love than Slaughter, Tesla, or Warrant, could have ever written about. And it's only been 17 years and 5 kids since then!

Wendy and Phil thank you for letting us have a glimpse into your lives and your relationship! We had a great time with you two.

The Art of Life

We do a number of senior a year. Recently I had a chance to get to know Sara, a great artist getting ready to graduate high school. We met at her house, shot for a little while and finished up with a stroll through downtown. Here is a collection of a few images from the shoot.

Two of a kind

Sisters are beautiful and even though they come from the same parents they can be so different and yet so similar! I experience this with my own sister but it's fun to see how alike and different the sisters we are privileged to photograph are. Alyssa and Isabella fall right into this category, we created the image of Alyssa back in 2007 when she was 1 year old, and their mom asked us to do a picture of Isabella in the same outfit this year when she turned one. Our goal was to try and show each girls' uniqueness and still get a picture that was similar enough to be hung on the wall next to Alyssa's. We went and photographed the session and watched the two of them run and play and when we got back to the studio and took a look at the images we were shocked to see how similar they were. Never in our wildest dreams could we have imagined that we would end up with an almost identical images of two different children almost three years apart!

Connection-hold the gnats!

We had a wonderful session with Matt and Melanie a while back, well, if you can forget about the horribly awful gnats! They were everywhere, we tried swatting at them, holding our hand up high so they wouldn't fly into our mouths, bug spray, nothing would work they were completely relentless. We all looked like a bunch of fools running and spitting and swatting, so we grabbed all the shots we needed and got out of there. I thought for sure we would be spending a great deal of time removing said pests from all the images but we were pleasantly surprised they chose not to make an appearance this time! Enjoy!

I'm pretty sure this was when Matt ate a gnat!

This is one of my favorites, and Matt and Melanie's too!

Dalya in the big "D"

I had the opportunity to fly to Dallas to photograph Dalya and her wonderful family at the Fort Worth Botanical gardens. I thought that the Bio Park here was great, but I guess I should get out more! This place was incredible, themed gardens all over, we spent most of our time in the Japanese garden which was carpeted with lush green vines and grasses and lots of koi, which Dalya enjoyed feeding! It was so fun to see some friends, have a great session and still be home in time for dinner!
